Capitol Art Exhibit Advisory Committee Issues 2027 Call for Proposals

ST. PAUL, Minn (May 21, 2025) – Applications are now available for artists looking to have their exhibits featured at the Minnesota State Capitol. The Capitol Art Exhibit Advisory Committee (CAEAC) is actively accepting proposals for art submissions that will be featured during the 2027 gallery season. 

Submitted artwork must comply with at least one of the criteria outlined in Minnesota Statues 15B.36, stating that art exhibits should tell Minnesota stories and engage people to: 

  1. reflect on Minnesota history;
  2. understand Minnesota government;
  3. recognize the contributions of Minnesota's diverse peoples;
  4. inspire citizen engagement; and
  5. appreciate the varied landscapes of Minnesota. 

Art exhibitions may feature a variety of art mediums, but will primarily feature 2D art with a limited capability for 3D works. Applications may be accepted from individuals, organizations, or culture bearers. Applicants, or persons coordinating the exhibit for an organization, must be 18 years of age or older to apply.

Following the July 6, 2025 deadline, submissions will be reviewed by the Minnesota Capitol Art Exhibit Advisory Committee in an open, public meeting and evaluated based on the 2027 Call for Proposals Scoring Guide. 

Selected applicants will then be invited to apply for step two by September 1, 2025. Finalists will be recommended to the Minnesota Capitol Preservation Commission for final approval and announced by January 2026.
