About This Event
This event has been rescheduled to September 28
Alexander Lund is a pipestone carver from the Lower Sioux Agency who has been practicing his craft for over three years.
The Little Cottonwood River runs right by Jeffers Petroglyphs as it makes its way to the Minnesota River. The Dakota place name for the Little Cottonwood River is Imni-Za-Ka-Sa-Deca meaning to split, crack or grind. Dakota place names are highly descriptive. To Dakota Elders the name suggests quarrying or carving activities in the area.
Join us to witness firsthand artist Alexander Lund's techniques and process of carving pipestone and learn about its cultural and geographical significance.
