  • We are happy to announce a brand-new Research Service: the Gold Star Roll Record Request! The Gold Star Roll recorded information about Minnesota men and women who died in military service during World War I, and researchers can now order copies of these interesting records, many of which include photographs, clippings, and letters.
  • Research trips can be one of the highlights of your genealogy efforts. Please join our May 17th Topics in Family History class to learn how to best plan your activities before, during, and after the trip and to find out how to get the most out of your visits. For more information on this and other classes, please see our Attend a Library Class webpage.
  • Check out our newest online video tutorial "Searching the Library Catalog" to get great hints on how to best use our catalog for your research. And watch our other video tutorials for help and advice things like ordering photos, using finding aids, and bring a class to visit the Library.
  • Check out our newest Research Guide all about researching in Minnesota's Vital Records. Our Research Guides give how-to instructions for research like legislative history and house history and a wide range of history subjects are also represented--from the Fur Trade and the First Minnesota to Walter Mondale and the Winter Carnival.
